How to tell if we are the right studio for you!
Finding Your "Forever" Studio: How to Choose the Right Dance Home for Your Family.
So your little one wants to start dance lessons? Believe it or not, choosing a dance studio is about more than just finding a convenient time slot after school. It’s about finding a community where your child feels safe to take risks, inspired to grow, and is surrounded by people who make them feel welcome.
In Auckland, many families are lucky to have plenty of options. But how do you know which one is the right fit for you? Here are the four must-haves to look for when making your choice.
1. A Family-First Culture
A studio shouldn't just be a place where you drop your kids off; it should be a community you’re proud to be a part of. Does the studio feel welcoming? Is the environment nurturing or overly high-pressure? When you walk in the door, are you greeted with a smile? Do the parents in the waiting room speak positively about their children and their experiences? Do the other dancers and parents help you settle in?
Look for a studio that balances discipline with heart. You want your child to learn the life skills that dance offers; teamwork, dedication, and punctuality, without losing the joy of dancing.
Our Philosophy: Since 2013, Family has been the heartbeat of Dance 24 Seven. We believe in nurturing the person just as much as the performer.
Safety First
Dance is an athletic pursuit, and the environment matters. When touring a studio, look at the floors. Are they concrete? Or are they purpose-built wooden sprung floors? Ask the staff about their health and safety policies, including first aid training. Are the dancers warmed up properly every lesson?
Why it matters: You want your child to be in an environment that is safe, so that you can feel secure dropping them off and allowing them to try new things.
The Dance 24 Seven Difference: Our studios were designed and built specifically for dancers, featuring professional sprung floors, full-length mirrors, and climate-controlled air conditioning to keep our dancers safe and comfortable year-round
3. Excellent Teachers
Being a great dancer and being a great teacher are two different skills. Ask about the faculty's experience in both performing and pedagogy (the science of teaching).
What to look for: A diverse staff ensures that your child is matched with a teacher who understands their specific age group and dance style.
The Expert Edge: With a team of 12 teachers, we ensure that whether your child is a Mini Mover or a competitive dancer, they are learning from industry experts.
4. Opportunities Beyond the Classroom
A great studio offers a pathway for whatever your child’s goals might be. Whether they want to dance once a week for fun or dream of a career on stage, the studio should have the infrastructure to support them.
Check for: Exams, annual shows, and leadership opportunities like Intern or Teacher Assistant programs.
Growth at 24 Seven: We provide opportunities for dancers of all ages to expand their learning with our range of recreational classes, our Level Up programme, competition teams, teacher training
